![]() ![]() ![]() But this does not work with the just released 1.26.7 or later. The old TrueCrypt 7.1 Windows executable can be run at the same time as the newer Veracrypt though.Īccording to Veracrypt documentation, if you load a legacy TrueCrypt container in Veracrypt 1.25.9 and simply change the password on it, then the container will be updated to Veracrypt. The only way to unload the DLL is by rebooting. And so only one version can exist in memory at a time. The DLL they load is not versioned nor dated. Note, even between versions of Veracrypt, you cannot run both at the same time or even one after the other without a reboot in between. Much like you have had KeePass 1 and 2 for many years, maybe keep the 1.25.9 Veracrypt around a bit or even resurrect the TrueCrypt 7.1a. In either case, having the older version available would really help. Or maybe someone was caught unaware that they still had a TrueCrypt container and not Veracrypt. ![]() Some, like I, may have many old, archived volumes on backing store from up to 20+ years ago that still need to be occasionally accessed. Both Veracrypt old version and Truecrypt last version are available (see below) but not here in PortableApps. You either have to use the older 1.25.9 release you just replaced or possibly even go back to TrueCrypt 7.1a / 7.2. But unbeknownst to many, I suspect, this new update removes TrueCrypt compatibility. ![]()
